Another skeleton...

 

 



Ok so chillin like/with a skeleton is sort of becoming the norm, or maybe I just have way too much time on my hands (likely). Last night my friend Nizzy let me (infact he was way too excited about it) practice my skull skills on him while we had a rare alcohol free night sat in his. I'm much more pleased with the outcome of the skeleton the second time around and I had changed a few things I didn't particularly like that I had done the first time on my own face. Had quite a few folk asking if I can do their Halloween faces after seeing my recent pictures posted on Facebook etc so I must be doing something right, haha!

 

 

I think it's creepy how much Nizzy suits being a wee skeleton and I think he felt the same, the poser couldn't stop taking pictures of himself...

 

 



Wicked Witches!

Last week we were shown a demo in SFX class of how to paint a standard old green witch & then had the chance to recreate our own the next day. I worked with Lisa and unfortunately (minus the 'un') I wasn't able to get my face done as I had an interview straight after college haha, maybe next time... I found it a wee bit difficult as in my research I never had any witch images and had to work off what we were told the day before which if I'm honest I couldn't remember very much of! Not too happy with the outcome but it's my own fault for not having witches included in my research haha.

Straight Theatrical Make-Up Assessment

Two weeks ago we had our Straight Theatrical Makeup Assessments & myself and Jade were working on each other. I found the Straight Theatrical block interesting as we learned how to make the eyes look bigger and how to make the other features stand out a little more so that folk sitting far away from the stage can still clearly see expressions.

Straight Theatrical is kept quite minimal in terms of not going overboard with brows and lashes etc so I just gave Jade a bronzey/goldeny colour on her eyelids along with natural dark eyeliner on the top and also on the bottom lashline. I gave her a rosy pink blush and finished with pale pink lips. I'm looking forward to moving on and doing something new and maybe a bit more adventurous which I can use more of my creativity on!



Skeleton Facepaint

 

So naturally when I can't sleep at 3am, the first thing I think of doing is painting my face skeleton like... I had gathered quite a few skeleton makeup images for my college research & wanted to try it out on myself before doing my friends for halloween.  I used a pencil eyeliner to outline the areas I was going to fill in and then used the greasepaint palette in our kit along with black & grey eyeshadows to smudge and contour to give the face a little depth instead of it looking very flat.

Overall quite chuffed with the first outcome and looking forward to practicing this look on friends and in class.

 

 

First attempt at SFX cuts & bruises!

Gave Jade a wee black eye and a few cuts on my first try in SFX class. Not too happy with the outcome but alright for my first try! Just an excuse to practice giving everyone cuts and bruises!  

 

The Ring makeup tutorial

 

'Audfaced' from YouTube has been one of my favourite makeup guru's for a while now and it's fair to say she's definitely a big inspiration of mine when it comes to her character makeup tutorials. I admire the way she thinks outside the box and definitely doesn't do things by halves! The above video shows all aspects of her creativity, proving that successfully making it in the make-up industry is a lot more than being able to put a little makeup on. I'm going to have a bash at the Samara tutorial however I highly doubt the outcome will look anything like the above haha but I'll post my effort up anyway!

First blog post!

I feel like a granny who's out of the loop with all things technology related cause it's taken me this long to get my wee blog set up and running but here we are! As part of my NQ6 Media Make-Up Artistry course I've just started studying at James Watt College, we've to regularly update our blogs throughout the year with our work, aims etc so I'll be posting a mixture of things all make-up, hair and nails related!

 

Really looking forward to getting stuck in in all my classes and updating you all on here with my work and new wee ventures, until the next post... Cheerio xx
